Built under a Perini/Thompkins joint venture, this 22 story building located on the waterfront in Oxen Hill Maryland included a 17.5 million dollar subcontract to DGS Construction, Inc. DGS placed approximately 175,000 yards of concrete and finished more than 1,000,000 square feet of concrete. All concrete was produced on site by Schuster Concrete using portable plants.
In the heart of Baltimore City on the harbor front, this $25 million dollar subcontract to DGS Construction, Inc. was composed of 6 interconnected buildings with 5-6 stories each It featured a 24"-30" transfer slab to offset the column lines for the underground parking garage with the column lines on the rest of the buildings. This Ritz Carlton complex is one of a few with permanent residences. The nature of the construction was extremely intricate to accommodate the unique requirements of the future owners of each residence. The approximately 50,000 cubic yards of concrete was supplied out from Schuster Concrete's Monument Street Plant in East Baltimore.
With a record setting 30 stories, this $20 million subcontract to DGS Construction, Inc. represents our tallest building up to 2006 when it was completed. In close proximity to nearby buildings, this project's complexity and liability were challenges that DGS was well suited for. The sheer height of this building required a milestone construction accomplishment for DGS with the use of a climber for the tower crane to add additional crane sections to extend its height and facilitate construction of the top floors.
Located in Ocean City MD, this 11 million dollar 13 story post-tension project expanded the geographical footprint of DGS Construction, Inc. 95% of the project's labor force was semi-permanently housed in Ocean City MD for the duration of this project as it was a full 3+ hours from corporate headquarters in Baltimore MD. The nearly 18,000 cubic yards of concrete were made on site with portable concrete plants. Incidentally, no supplies for this project were obtained east of the Bay Bridge but were hauled in from the Baltimore / Washington area.
The MTA Metro Garage was the first building completed in the Metro Tower Center Master Plan. This 8 story parking garage features bonded post-tension construction. The required 34,000 cubic yards of concrete for this project was delivered from Schuster's Owings Mills MD plant.
